With a passion for history (especially WWII), I offer tailored and standard tours. Away from the masses, close to the authentic Dutch way of living.
I’ve made it my mission to show the world the real and authentic, every-day-side of the Netherlands.
That’s why I started Menno’s Detours in 2025.
I am an Associate Guide at the Dutch National Guides Association GUIDOR and verified guide at Amersfoort Tourist Office. In addition I am a verified guide at Nationaal Monument Kamp Amersfoort, a former Dutch Concentration Camp just outside of Amersfoort.
Amersfoort is where it all started for me. I can entertain people days on end just within the city that is crowned European City of the Year 2024.
Just imagine what else is out there once we leave Amersfoort.

Small Groups, away from the masses
I focus on small group tours for several reasons. First of all it gives me the opportunity to get to know my guests and do everything with a personal approach.
Also, the flexibility increases and making ‘detours’ is easier to incorporate than travelling with large groups.
Finally the impact our visit has on a location, the people and the environment is far less.
Standard and tailored tours
In all named cities I offer standard walking tours from 1 up to several hours.
Also, in my hometown Amersfoort I offer a variety of walking-, bicycle- and even Tuk Tuk- tours in and around the city center. Whether it is just sightseeing, or themed. World War Two, Streetart, you name it.
Tailored Tours are offered mostly in halfday or fullday tours. Pickup and returns to your hotel (nationwide) is possible!
Eco-friendly
All my tours are offered with the environment in my mind. Therefor I focus on using transportation with the least emmission.
All powered transportation (cars, Tuk Tuk, etc.) is electrical powered when available.
