The majority of international tourists coming to the Netherlands, stick to the Randstad region. They visit (a part of) the many tourist attractions offered, leave our country and claim to have seen the Netherlands. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed your stay, but I think they’ve missed out on so many real and more genuine experiences!

I can show you the authentic Lowlands. Away from the masses. No funparks or staged sceenery, but real everyday life and loads of lesser known stories.

Eco-friendly

Travelling with a minimal ecological footprint gets easier and easier. I focus on doing my part with respect to nature.

That is why I primairly focus on Walking Tours and Bicycle Tours. I can however provide electrical transportation for small groups if bigger distances need to be covered.

I don’t provide standardised tours for the masses. My focus is on your experience and personal needs.

I'm Menno, 41 years old and I live in Amersfoort.

With a passion for history (especially WWII), I offer tailored and standard tours. Away from the masses, close to the authentic Dutch way of living.

I’ve made it my mission to show the world the real and authentic, every-day-side of the Netherlands.
That’s why I started Menno’s Detours in 2025.

I am an Associate Guide at the Dutch National Guides Association GUIDOR and certified guide at Amersfoort Tourist Office. In addition I am a certified volunteer at Nationaal Monument Kamp Amersfoort.

Amersfoort is where it all started. I can entertain people days on end just within the city that is crowned European City of the Year 2023.
Just imagine what else is out there once we leave Amersfoort.
